Environmental Management System (EMS)


A management frame work to enable an organization of any size or type to:

  • Identify and control the environmental impact of its activities, products, or services;
  • Manage its compliance obligations, and address the risks and opportunities to the environment and its EMS performance;
  • Improve its environmental performance continually; and to 
  • Implement a systematic approach to setting, achieving, and demonstrating achievement of environmental objectives, evaluating environmental compliance performance, and identifying and implementing corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.

The part of the overall management system that includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes, and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing, and maintaining the environmental policy.
