Software License

A contract between a copyright holder and the licensee; a legal contract between a software application author or publisher and the user. The license is somewhat similar to a rental agreement, but it relates to rights to use intangible intellectual property rights instead of tangible goods. Under a typical license, the user agrees to pay for the privilege of using the software and promises the software author or publisher to comply with all restrictions stated in the license agreement.
