Privacy Act Information


Information that is required to be protected under the Privacy Act of 1974. Information subject to the Privacy Act must be retrieved by a unique personal identifier, such as a name or unique identification number or code. Privacy Act information must be safeguarded and handled in accordance with the requirements and restrictions outlined in the Privacy Act. Any grouping of information about an individual that is maintained by an agency, including, but not limited to, his or her education, financial transactions, medical history, and criminal or employment history and that contains his or her name or an identifying number, symbol, or other identifying particular assigned to the individual, such as a finger- and voice print or a photograph is considered a record for the purposes of the Privacy Act.
