Offsite Transportation Authorization (OTA)


An NNSA authorization for approving the offsite shipment of packages that do not comply with the DOT HMR. OTAs are for packages containing non-fissile, less than Type B quantities of radioactive and other hazardous material that are MNSI. The OTA defines the authorized package and specifies handling and transportation requirements.
