Irradiated Reactor Fuel


(Also called spent nuclear fuel.) Nuclear reactor fuel 27 previously used as part of a fuel assembly to sustain nuclear fission in a self-supporting chain reaction which contains more than 2 x 104 curies and is in excess of 100 grams in net weight, exclusive of cladding or other structural or packaging material and has a dose rate exceeding 100 rems per hour at a distance of 3 feet from any accessible surface without intervening shielding.
