Functional Exercise (FE)

A single or multi-agency activity designed to evaluate capabilities, multiple functions, sub-functions or independent groups of functions that are focused on exercising plans, policies, procedures and staff members involved in management, direction, and command and control functions. An FE is conducted in a realistic, real-time environment; however, movement of personnel and equipment is usually simulated.
