Acceptance Testing

The process of exercising or evaluating a system or system component by manual or automated means to ensure that it satisfies the specified requirements and to identify differences between expected and actual results in the operating environment. 

The performance of all necessary testing to demonstrate that installed equipment will operate satisfactorily and safely in accordance with plans and specifications. It includes required hydrostatic, pneumatic, electrical, ventilation, and mechanical functioning and run-in tests of portions of systems, and finally of completed systems.

Evaluation or measurement of performance characteristics to verify that certain stated specifications and contractual requirements are met.
