The document refers to a variety of mixed terms regarding Quality Assurance and Quality Control; none are defined or used consistently. For example, Quality Assurance Plan (p. 19); Quality Control/Assurance (Heading- pgs. 27, 42, D-16) the subsequent paragraphs do not describe quality control); Project Quality Assurance Program (p. 27); QA/QC Plan (p. 27); Quality Control/Assurance Plan (p. 33); Quality Control and Quality Assurance plan (p. 42); Quality Control/Assurance Plan (p. 45); Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP), and Quality Control (QC) (p. B-3); QA Plan (p. D-16); #17 Quality Assurance/Quality Control (p. D-28)

Thank you for sharing this observation with us. Although the current version of the Guide dated September 23, 2008 to some extent addresses your concern in that it includes fewer variants of the “quality assurance plan,” PM will attempt to standardize references to documents that support quality appearing in the next version of the Guide.
