Equivalencies


Alternative approaches to fulfilling the requirements of DOE O 225.1B in cases where the “how” is specified. Acceptable alternative approaches to achieving the goal of DOE O 225.1B are approved by the cognizant Head of the Headquarters Element in consultation with the Office of Primary Interest (the Office of Health, Safety and Security) in accordance with the requirements specified in DOE O 251.1C, Departmental Directives Program.

Alternatives to how a requirement in a directive is met in cases where the “how” is specified. These represent acceptable, alternative approaches to achieving the goal of a directive’s requirement.

Alternatives to how a requirement in a directive is fulfilled in cases where the “how” is specified. These represent an acceptable alternative approach to achieving the goal of the directive. Unless specified otherwise in the directive, Equivalencies are granted, in consultation with the OPI, by the Program Secretarial Officer or their designee, or in the case of the NNSA, by the Administrator or designee, and documented for the OPI in a memorandum. For those directives listed in Attachment 1 of DOE O 410.1, CTA concurrences are required prior to the granting of equivalencies.
